Data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence (AI): using digital tools for AI whilst ensuring transparency, accountability and reserved legal activities; algorithmic decision-support and decision-making; large language models for feature extraction and the analysis of complex textual data.

Background

To address evidence priorities set out in this ARI, we need to draw on a wide range of analytical and research methodologies, including the use of AI. We want to engage with researchers to enhance our scientific capability and explore how innovative methods can be applied to justice research and analysis.
