How can we assess and manage cumulative environmental impacts on marine and
freshwater ecosystems from all sources, including industries, communities, and
other users?
Background
Clean, healthy, and biologically diverse seas and freshwater environments are fundamental to
delivering Scotland's Blue Economy Vision. This research area focuses on understanding and
addressing the impacts of human activities on marine and freshwater ecosystems, developing
approaches to reduce pollution and degradation, and promoting active restoration to
enhance ecosystem health and function.
