What are examples of innovation in policymaking practice? What can we learn from other countries and the private sector?

Background

Analysis on Public Spending and Public Services relates to how HM Treasury advises ministers on both the level and the composition of how taxpayers’ money is spent. Within this we are interested in driving improved outcomes and efficiency across key public services and departments; ensuring value for money is at the centre for decision-making through better data, analysis and evaluation; and putting the public finances on a strong and sustainable footing.
