ARI 08 Effectiveness, for reducing ongoing pollution and remediating past pollution, of legislation, prevention measures, permitting, inspections, and enforcement methods.
Background
Within the question group Environmental Quality and Pressures, we are interested in the regulation, reduction and monitoring of environmental pollution and wider environmental quality. We define pollution to include noise pollution and pollution of water, air and soil with ubiquitous, persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic pollutants, and other harmful chemicals. We aim to improve our understanding of options to address pollution, the negative effects of pollution on the environment, whether current regulations provide sufficient protection, and the mechanisms underlying nutrient management issues.
